Remember that post I did about Kashi’s  7 Grain Flakes & Granola with Black Currants & Walnuts last month? Kashi also sent me their new TLC Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars for me and my family to try out and asked me to write about them. Here’s what I had to say:

The kids and I have been trying to switch to healthier food . . . or at least I have. Well, my kids agree with me in theory, but actually eating the food has been a different story. They still aren’t big fans of salad, and they can’t seem to kick their candy obsession.

Going back to school presents an even greater challenge to eating well for our family. So much of what’s in a kid’s lunch box determines their social status (Hey, I didn’t make the rules—I was never that popular.). Healthy food is important, yes, but not so important that my nine-year-old goes down as the class pariah when she opens her lunchbox to find sunflower seeds and radish sprouts. From personal experience, I can attest that school lunches make the most positive social impact when they’re at least sixty percent store bought.

That’s why Kashi is such a breath of fresh air. My kids love their new TLC Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars. They’re sweet, which helps to satisfy my kids’ daily candy fix, and they’re full of nutrients they need, like whole grain, fiber, and protein. My kids also love the peanutty flavor, which will forever be the ultimate complement to chocolate.

The TLC Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars make a great early morning solution for when we need to take breakfast on the run, and most importantly, they have just enough of a store bought appeal to withstand the highest grammar school social scrutiny. With Kashi, I can feel confident my kids are eating well and fitting in at the same time. ;)
